Thomas of Germany: Porcelain Soup Coupe and Stand from the Arcta Range
A rather special way to eat your bowl of soup!
These soup coupes and stand were made by Thomas of Germany (a subsidiary of Rosenthal) in the 1960s, and combine a stylish minimalism with a very 60s pop of colour.
Made of porcelain, partly glazed, but left matte on the textured band around the outside of the coupe, and decorated with a transfer on the coupe in shades of orange.
Not only stylish but well-designed, with handles on the coupes and a rim on the stand to stop things from slipping.
The bowls are 11 cm (4") across the top and 5 cm (2") high, the stands are 16.5 cm (6.5") across. They are in excellent vintage condition, with only some light signs of wear on the orange transfer part of the design.
