A ceramic wall plaque made in Sweden by Tilgmans and dating from the 1950s-60s.Made with a dark clay with incised and brightly glazed flowers - harebells I think. The glaze is intense in colour and glassy - like a frit.Signed by the artist to the front. The plaque is sound but the decor has a lot of small flakes and fleabites - these do not detract I feel, as the clay is so textured anyway. There is a chip at the back in the top corner as well.
This has two holes for hanging - these would originally have had a a leather thong threaded through.31 x 16 cm (12 x 6") and weighing just over a kilogram.
I have another wall plaque in the same style for sale as well - they make a lovely pair!
