A bowl made by Thomas Forester & Sons for Phoenix Works in Stoke-on-Trent.
Not much seems to be known about this, although I have seen another example elsewhere dated to around the 1930s and with a clearer mark to show the maker.
The glaze is amazing, a deep, dark cobalt blue feathered with orange and paler colours, all with a silky sheen.
Condition is ok, mostly very good, but there is a small chip and here originates a hairline crack running down the side of the bowl. It can be seen in pic 3.
Obviously the affects the price significantly, and the risk in shipping it, although I am aware of the issue and will pack with extra care. The crack is difficult to spot and photograph, and this bowl would still make a very interesting addition to any collection. The bowl is 15cm (6") across the top and 6 cm (2.5") high.
