A vintage ceramic vase from West German producer Jasba, dating back to the 1960s-70s.
This looks very similar to Carstens' famous 'Ankara' decor, which is because of the use of the same wax resist technique.
A lovely elegant shaped vase with a shiny white underglaze and an overglaze of textured matte black. The wax resist technique means that wax was used after the first white glaze to stop the black glaze catching on certain areas. It looks very striking in black and white and the use of different textures of glaze works to add even more interest.
The inside is glazed turquoise but this has either mostly rubbed off the top of the rim or never quite caught in the first place.
Other than that the vase is in excellent vintage condition and would look great in all sorts of environments.
